Elim, Ak
We went to Elim, Ak last weekend for a 3 day Elementary Basketball Tournament. Elim is west of Nome, Ak and is sheltered from the wind, hence the trees. We missed the iditarod by about 24 hours but got to see the Serum Run mushers. They run the original route that took the medicine to Nome, Ak. It is not a race but more of an enjoyment of the history.

Red Mountain
Mooney and I hiked up the mountain to the North East of town. This is the first time we have made it to the summit of this one. It is quite a bit steeper than the one to the west.

Teller
We went to Teller for the first time this year to play basketball. The ice has been hit or miss and I had been told (before this week) that it is safe "if you know where to go". Hence this being our first trip. Mooney ran the whole way there and back. As a conservative estimate we traveled at 20mph. Mooney also has a new favorite spot.

South Wind
Here are a few pictures from our storm last week. Take a look at the video and look for the power line, it looks like wave. We had 70mph winds...and Mooney and I still got out to walk.

Brevig Mission School
Here are a few pictures of the school and my classroom. Notice how thick the walls are...insulation from the cold....which was -20degF at the taking of the picture. Last Monday we had a high of -25degF...today it was 33degF. Think of the difference from 30degF to 75degF...it makes a HUGE difference when it is that cold out too.

Dog Kennel
I needed a spot to keep Mooney during the day and I feel bad keeping her tied up. I found a few pieces of wire fencing and some wood. I enclosed the first few feet in front of my apartment. It works well. She can even have friends over.
