Dog Kennel
I needed a spot to keep Mooney during the day and I feel bad keeping her tied up. I found a few pieces of wire fencing and some wood. I enclosed the first few feet in front of my apartment. It works well. She can even have friends over.

Nome-Teller Road
The same road that I biked to Nome I drove last weekend. The school had a food order to pick up so we loaded up 4 full size trucks and a trailer and hauled all the freight back to Teller, then made a half dozen boat trips to Brevig.

Field Trip
We took a field trip this week to Shellman Creek (a small creek 2 miles North of town) to collect rocks for science class. Here are the pictures. Ask me for the details about the trip. The water pipe you see is left over from an old gold mine on Sunset Creek.
Mouse
Mooney's new thing is to catch mice and bring them to me...dead or alive. The colder it gets... the slower the mice move.... the more she catches.

Fall 2010
We'll I can say that the honeymoon is over. All that was new last year is mundane this year. Here are a few pictures of around Brevig. Coffee is the name of the Boxer pup. His owners are here installing boilers and hot water heaters for the next 8 months. The old engine is part of a gold mine that hasn't operated for many many years. Notice the 'cartoon' crank.

Empire Builder
I took my youngest sister on the Empire Builder Amtrak train (it runs from Chicago to Seattle) about a month and a half ago. These are the pictures. It goes through Glacier National Park...it was a great ride.

To Nome...
Mooney and I decided to bike the 80 miles to Nome. Unfortunately my camera broke before the bear incident, sleet storm, gold dredge, incredible views, and sleeping next to a road grader. Here's what I got though.

Working Weekend
I went to Unalakleet, Ak for a working weekend at the end of April. Most of the snow was gone, just the piles left to melt. Yesterday, May 7, 2010, I could see/hear Sand Hill Cranes flying over from my classroom window. Bird hunting is not far away.
